Wismedical (Co-CEOs Lee Seong-hun and Yeo Woon-hong), a company developing sleep assessment solutions for remote medical care, and Z-Brain (CEO Yoon Chang-ho), a company developing customized digital treatments for insomnia, have joined hands. The two companies signed a business agreement (MOU) to launch a full-cycle solution that objectively evaluates an individual’s sleep status based on biosignals and even provides customized treatment

. Wismedical is a spin-off company from the lab of Professor Yeo Woon-hong at Georgia Tech. It is developing a soft electronics-based medical device that can perform sleep polygraphy tests wirelessly at home.

Zibrain is a company founded by Professor Yoon Chang-ho of the Department of Neurology at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, an authority on insomnia. It is developing a personalized digital treatment based on next-generation biosignals, overcoming the limitations of existing insomnia digital treatments based on subjective evaluations.

With this agreement, the two companies plan to continue their collaboration in insomnia treatment-related businesses by applying Zibrain’s biosignal-based personalized insomnia treatment technology to Wismedical’s remote sleep evaluation solution. Based on this, it is expected that it will be possible to precisely measure sleep conditions and provide personalized cognitive behavioral treatment based on objective data, overcoming the limitations of existing treatments.

Yeo Woon-hong, Co-CEO of Wismedical, said, “The combination of Wismedical’s home sleep measurement technology and Zibrain’s biosignal-based personalized insomnia treatment technology is expected to be a milestone that will bring about innovation in the sleep evaluation and treatment field.”

Yoon Chang-ho, CEO of Jibrain, said, “This partnership will be the starting point for presenting a new paradigm to the global sleep market by combining a bio-signal-based daily sleep evaluation system with hardware innovation and a personalized digital sleep health platform.”

The two companies plan to engage in joint research and development, exchange of digital healthcare technologies, and cooperation for commercialization to launch digital evaluation and treatment devices related to sleep. According to this agreement, Wismedical will be responsible for the development of a wearable device that can continuously measure polysomnography at home based on soft electronics and for sleep evaluation. Jibrain plans to collaborate with experts in cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia and analyze the bio-signals collected by Wismedical to develop an insomnia treatment solution.
