| Hospital-quality sleep studies at home: WisMedical's "Tedream"
Healthcare startup Wismedical is making it possible to easily diagnose sleep disorders such as sleep apnea at home.
We have developed a wireless sensor-based sleep diagnostic device called ‘Tedream’ .
The number of people suffering from sleep problems such as insomnia, sleep apnea, and snoring is steadily increasing.
For a precise diagnosis, hospitals perform polysomnography (PSG).
Patients are forced to sleep in an unfamiliar environment with more than 20 wired sensors attached to their entire body.
This often results in measuring unusual sleep patterns or making accurate diagnosis difficult.
To overcome these limitations, WisMedical designed Tedream.
| Precision diagnosis completed with three wireless sensors
Tedream works by attaching three wireless sensors, as thin as stickers, to your forehead, chest, and arms.
Sensors measure key biosignals such as brain waves, heart rate, breathing, and movement, providing hospital-level, accurate data at home.
It is a convergence of core technologies such as ultra-small sensors, flexible materials, and high-precision signal processing algorithms.
Patients can obtain reliable results in a comfortable environment.
| How is it different from existing wearables?
Smartwatches and bands also have sleep tracking features, but they mostly only analyze heart rate and movement.
On the other hand , Tedream provides comprehensive medical-level precision data required by hospitals.
It can even diagnose specialized diseases such as sleep apnea.
In other words, Tedream is differentiated from existing wearables in that it is a device that provides both convenience and accuracy.
| Future plans
Tedream is currently being supplied as a research device to hospitals and research institutes at home and abroad.
We plan to receive medical device approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety within this year.
Starting next year, it is planned to be used as an actual medical device in hospital settings.
As a company located in Seoul Bio Hub, WisMedical utilizes various resources and networks.
We are accelerating technology development and product commercialization.
Additionally, we are actively expanding into overseas markets through collaborations with Georgia Tech and Atlanta hospitals.
Being selected as a digital healthcare open innovation company has clearly demonstrated its growth potential in the global market.
So that more people can enjoy comfortable sleep and a healthy life in the future,
WisMedical will continue to strive to develop innovative technologies.
